Tomo Ai

Tomo Ai

This is an ongoing project I'm working on that experiments with Ai generative text in games.

Tomo AI is highly inspired by games like Tomodachi Life, where the gameplay is very sim-like and mainly based on interacting with NPCs of many different personalities, and watching how they interact with each other.

Purpose & Goal

With the advancement of AI tools, I wanted to experiment with some AI generative tools within game design, as I was both interested in the topic, and also felt that it would be a great skill to have.

After playing with the Pygmalion AI on Tavern AI, I came up with the idea of creating a game that used ai generative text, and decided to quickly create a prototype for it using Unity, since I felt this was the fastest way to prototype the idea, with my current experience.

Progress - Jan 09, 2024

At the moment, I have a fully implemented the link from Unity to the ai tool, tavern AI, as well as a rough version of the prompt constructor. The AI are able to have a conversation with the player, as well as have conversations with each other (though these NPC-only conversations are sometimes incoherant). Aside from the AI generative systems, I've also created a relationship system for the NPCs, where they maintain relationships with other NPCs, and a NPC personality editor.

The prototype is completely playable in this state, and it shows off what the basis of the game would feel like, but it is still missing some features that I'd really like to include, like the character appearence editor, and additional features I still have to experiment with.
